I loved this product on the first day but by the second day the light stopped charging and has never come back.

I really like the concept and the light is cool to touch, very kid safe. But the reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is that you should know that the light does not stay lit on the charger. Once you hang the light on the charger knob when plugged in, the light goes off. The blue area stays lit, but the bright white light goes off. I had bought it mostly for a wall night light, not to involve around (though that is a side benefit I looked forward to).
I will doubtless buy a switchable adaptor for the outlet so that I can flip the switch on to charge the unit and flip it off at night to glow. It just doesn’t function the way I had envisioned.

This candela product is exceptionally useful. I live in an area that has frequent thunderstorms which regularly knock out the power. When the power goes out, the candela automatically turns on, making it simple to find and ensuring that one is never left in the dark. It charges on a round knob that stays in the electrical outlet and constantly glows in a soft light blue. The shape of this piece is particularly useful, as you can involve it easily. Fantastic for anyone who doesn’t want to dig for a flashlight when the power goes out.

I got these so here would be a modest light in case of earthquake – when you take the hurricane lantern off the plug (or the power goes out) the hurricane lantern lights up. The hurricane lantern could be best described as ambient lighting, as it really doesn’t get that bright. I reckon it will be perfect for a lot of people though, if you are just by it as a nightlight or comfort for a child. BTW you should know that you can’t turn off the blue night-light that is attached to the plug part. It’s not that bright and doesn’t bother me in the bedroom, but I live in a city so my bedroom isn’t super dark to start with.

We live in the woods and have frequent power outages in winter and during windstorms. This is the best design I have seen for emergency lighting that is always ready, and doubles as a night light. OXO has several options that are safe for household use, especially in children’s place to stay. We will be getting more of these so we will have them available in every room of the house.
